Chalk Dust
Not unlike so many others, I suffer from allergies. May be it was the chalk dust that I had to endure during my time in the public school system. Now, students have toxic whiteboards markers and dry erasers fumes. The option to that may be the computer and the many ways of communication that don't involve toxic fumes. But who knows! The light from the computer screen and the electronic waves that come from the constant use of the technology may be causing unforeseen damage to the human biological system. Or maybe, by the time I post this comment there will be another option available to the educational system. But, for now, I will just keep using the most reliable .... pen and paper.

sounds like the only safe way to go about it is to...talk! ironically, this seems to be in the rearview mirror of professional development as the trends are looking at job embedded which means less classic face time for trainers, however it could mean more face time between teachers.
ReplyDeleteI've read that in UK, the beams of white board projectors installed in classrooms have been said to damage the retina of some students and teachers. New technology, new bugs, same victims...us.
